Going in blind a lot of more unique aspects will likely come off as annoying. While taking good care of your animals will get you passable money early on, Crops in particular have pitiful returns before you unlock hybridization (which isn't possible until year 2.) The game has an exceptionally slow start and the act of farming is very slow and not really as in depth as most other titles.

Like it's very different from your standard title and unless you know better it could turn you off from the series if you don't realize most of the games in the series are super different. It's honestly really hard to recommend to newbies lol. Each has their own thing they're really good at doing, but FOMT is a super well rounded experience without being stressful.Īs someone who started with it and loves it a lot. It's a really great way to find out what part of farming Sims you want to lean into. Every time I Google something about the game, I find something that makes me excited to keep going and explore or find out. I haven't been so I vested in the characters since Magical Melody (a personal fave that needs a lot of love if it's going to get a remake 🤞) and even as I'm nearing marriage in the game, I don't feel my engagement plateauing. It doesn't make it unplayable but it does get irritating once in a while. It has the least amount of frustrating mechanics and I have a laundry list of things I'd like to see fixed as far as quality of life goes for just about every game (including Stardew Valley which is nearly perfect), but the ONLY complaint I have about Friends of Mineral Town (SoS) is that the days go way too fast. It doesn't negate the game experience at all, if anything it enhances it (even as an experienced player). It even has an 'easy mode' to start on which I would recommend if you haven't played these kinds of games before. I only recently started playing the Friends of Mineral Town remake and I honestly think it is the smoothest, most forgiving farm sim that gives you a really well rounded experience across the board. I have played every hm/rune factory/Stardew/story of seasons except for anything that came out on the Wii.

It's definitely the hardest one, mostly due to a lack of quality of life mechanics that they've since hashed out over the last few years kind of.
